Realme GT7 Pro Racing

Realme GT7 Pro Racing Smartphone Review – At the end of November, Realme unveiled the latest GT7 Pro, which was quite an appealing phone overall. After this, the company has been teasing the special edition, and finally, it’s here. Unlike the regular Realme device, the new Realme GT7 Pro Racing Edition. Moreover, this handset comes with the latest snapdragon chipset that can push the performance limits to a new level.

For those who don’t know, the Racing edition will be released Feb 2025, exclusively on the official Realme website. Besides this, the device will be available in the Chinese smartphone market, like most of the special edition models. Yet, the device doesn’t feature anything extra compared to the regular Realme GT7 Pro. It receives the identical design as its sibling, with a few changes in specs here and there. Does adding a racing edition change anything? Let’s find out from the following review.

Realme GT7 Pro Racing Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. A slim bezel 6.78 inches LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate appears on the GT7 Pro Racing.
  2. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite with Adreno 830 GPU.
  3. The software layering is handled through the Realme UI 6.0 interface based on the Android 15 operating system.
  4. A fabulous 50MP dual camera setup brings impressive photos and videos with a 16MP selfie lens.
  5. The device equips a 6500 mAh battery with a 120W charger with Bypass charging support.

Design and Display

Realme smartphone designs are always a hit or miss for the majority of users, and the Realme GT7 Pro Racing edition carries the same design as the previous model. There aren’t any significant changes, a big square camera module with a matte finishing body. For your information, the device is feasible in two color variants, including Titanium and blue. However, the design aspect is pretty much a subjective thing.

Some might like a simple layout, while others won’t. Apart from this, the handset comes with a slim and lightweight build. You won’t believe it— it only weighs 218 grams, even after having a massive battery under the hood. If you look at the overall build, the phone comes with a glass back panel and aluminum frame. It gives a premium and elegant appearance. At the same time, the front display houses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel.

Alongside this, the screen has slim bezels and a barely noticeable selfie notch. The display provides 1500-6000 nits brightness for usual usage, while the refresh rate ensures smooth sailing through the interface. The viewing experience isn’t bad; you can watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and other streaming apps. Furthermore, the device has an under-display biometrics scanner and IP68/IP69 ingress for additional protection.

Memory and Internal

Like the GT7 Pro, the GT7 Pro Racing device comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. In regular conditions, this processor will handle the average task with ease. Besides this, the performance levels won’t disappoint the users who want to experience the true gaming experience. Following this, the graphic unit will leverage advanced technology and boost visuals. You can play high-end games without any lags or hiccups.

Still, the software interface doesn’t lack gaming-centric features. The users can adjust the refresh rate, frame rate, advanced sound control, notifications accessibility, and more with the dedicated game mode. Aside from this, the Realme UI 6.0 also introduces a wide range of AI features.

But you will also obtain the basic artificial intelligence features. In terms of storage, you can choose between 256GB to 512GB UFS 4.1 space with 12GB or 16GB of RAM. But sadly, you won’t receive a 1TB storage here. If the company added that, it would have been better. Anyway, the storage and RAM configuration will be enough to save all of your high-resolution multimedia.

Camera

The camera department is downgraded since the GT7 Pro Racing edition doesn’t have a telephoto lens. It is accompanied by a dual setup, which is led by the 50MP primary sensor. With this sensor, users can capture decent photos with natural colors and an accurate dynamic range. Yet the white balance might be off sometimes — still, the overall camera results look presentable.

The primary sensor also supports optical image stabilization, ensuring a stable photography experience. Following this, the phone also includes an 8MP ultra-wide lens. That can capture dynamic range pictures with perfection. However, the colors sometimes look artificial. As far as the lowlight images are concerned, the camera setup provides a bit of bland results.

Grains and noise are visible if you aren’t using the night mode. Hopefully, the image processing isn’t that slow. On the other hand, the front display equips a 16MP selfie camera set. It handles photos precisely and provides ample support to the users. The skin tones look good. Plus, you can check different filters to create fun images. Indeed, the video recording aspect is limited to 4K at 30/60fps by the rear camera. Despite this, giving video stabilization is a blessing in disguise.

Battery and Others

Inside, the company added a massive 6500 mAh battery without increasing the overall weight. It’s a superb feature for Realme to add more better. Through this, getting long-lasting screen time won’t be a dream anymore. The Realme GT7 Pro Racing can grant up to 7+ hours of screen time. It could be less or more depending on your daily activities. As for the charging support, the device supports a 120W wired charger.

You only need 38 minutes to refill the battery to full. But the most interesting part would be the bypass charging. For gamers, it’s a genuine gift since it reduces overheating for multitasking and extends battery life. As for the rest of the features, the phone delivers a decent sound output and offers top-end sensors and 5G connectivity. Lastly, the starting variant is priced at around $426 (Rs 36,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Realme GT7 Pro Racing edition is a downgrade from the GT7 Pro. Yet, there are some plus points to purchasing this phone. For example, the device has bypass charging support, is slimmer, and has an exclusive color variant. These factors are the saving grace. However, another shortcoming can’t be overlooked. The no telephoto lens, and most like the device is exclusive to China.

Without the official info, this device’s global release is still in mystery. There’s no doubt that it’s a great phone as a mid-range with exceptional performance. But if you want an alternate option, the Realme GT7 Pro would be a solid choice. It’s a complete upgrade from specs and features point of view. If you want to go the budget route with a good camera, the Xiaomi 14 Civi would be a perfect pick. Aside from these phones, feel free to check other alternatives to find the best deal according to your needs.
