Realme V60 Pro

Realme 14x Smartphone Review – The Realme 14x was launched in December 2024 and went on sale by the end of that month. The smartphone is available in India, but it should launch globally in more regions either with the same name or Realme V60 Pro. Both of these smartphones have the same internal components but will be available under different names depending on the region.

The Realme 14x features budget internal components since it is a budget phone, but it still has 5G connectivity, which is almost necessary in 2025. Even though it’s a budget phone, it looks quite good and fashionable. Realme seriously wants to impress its budget users with this design and 5G connectivity, among other features. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Realme 14x and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Realme 14x Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Realme 14x features a 6.67-inch HD IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  2. The chipset featured in the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G octa-core chipset that is capable of reaching clock speeds of 2×2.4 GHz.
  3. The smartphone arrives with Android 14 out-of-the-box with Realme UI 5 for more customization capabilities.
  4. The Realme 14x has a 50MP rear camera with an 8MP selfie camera.
  5. The phone has a 6000mAh battery and supports 45W wired fast charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Realme 14x is not new and closely matches that of other Realme smartphones, like the Realme C75. However, it’s a decent design that looks quite good, especially in this price bracket. Realme doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to budget smartphones. The main goal of the cheaper phone should be to deliver the best value for the price, and Realme may have succeeded with this smartphone.

The Realme 14x’s body has a flat side frame and a flat rear panel. It is quite slim and feels good in the hand but won’t slip out of your hands easily. The entire body is made of plastic, but it is durable. The phone is available for purchase in Crystal Black, Golden Glow, and Jewel Red color options.

As for the display, it is a 6.67-inch HD IPS display with a 120Hz high refresh rate, which helps deliver a smooth user experience. The display panel features decently accurate colors and gets plenty bright under direct sunlight, so you shouldn’t have any issues outdoors. The only caveat is that the screen only has HD+ resolution but not FHD+, which could be a dealbreaker for some people. The smartphone has IP68/69, so there is some protection against dust and water. It is also relatively safe against minor drops to the concrete since it has the military-grade MIL-STD-810H certification.

Memory and Internal

The Realme 14x is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset that can reach clock speeds of up to 2×2.4 GHz. This octa-core chipset has enough horsepower to deliver a smooth day-to-day experience and perform decent multitasking, which is also true for the gaming side of things as well.

Most popular games, such as PUBGm, CODm, and Summoners War, run with ease. In fact, the Mali-G57 MC2 can easily handle these games at smooth framerates without overheating. In fact, this phone shouldn’t heat up even during intense online gaming. However, keep in mind that graphically demanding games like Genshin Impact may not run quite well, but multiplayer games will run just fine.

The 5G connectivity support further improves your online gaming session. For memory and storage, the Realme 14x is available for purchase with 6GB + 256GB or 8GB + 256GB of RAM and internal storage. There’s also support for a microSDXC card (via SIM tray) and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The smartphone runs on Android 14 with RealmeUI 5, which provides a lot of customization support. Realme also provides two Android updates and three years of security updates, which will enhance the software experience in the long run. All in all, this smartphone provides all the basic hardware and software components to deliver a great user experience.

Camera

The Realme 14x has a 50MP rear camera, which manages to capture great detail levels with accurate color tones and a high dynamic range. Even the finer details in the shadows and highlights are preserved as decently as possible, making it better than many other smartphones in the same price range. However, keep in mind that this is a budget smartphone, and its quality won’t be comparable to more expensive smartphones.

On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera, which has an average sensor. It can take some good selfies with great detail levels, but the skin tone and natural color saturation are not done quite well. When it comes to video recording, both the rear and the selfie camera shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p@30FPS, and there’s no video stabilization of any kind.

Battery and Others

The Realme 14x has a large 6000mAh battery that can easily last about 2 – 3 days on a lighter usage. Even if you are a heavy user or watch a lot of videos, the battery should still last more than a full day. However, if you play a lot of games, the battery won’t last a full day. However, there’s no need to be anxious as the phone supports 45W, which can fully charge the smartphone in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

However, there’s no wireless charging. Apart from that, the smartphone has support for Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, OTG, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The Realme 14x is available for sale starting at $176 (Rs 14,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Realme 14x returns the charm to the budget segment by including exciting things like 5G, a decent camera, large battery capacity, good software support, and more. Almost every aspect of the Realme 14x delivers a satisfying result, especially considering the price. Even the gaming performance is quite decent. Most other smartphones in the same price range don’t even have 5G connectivity, let alone other things like proper water and dust protection that the Realme 14x has. The only drawback is that it lacks FHD+ resolution, but everything else is fine.

If you can accept the Realme 14x’s only con, we believe the pricing is decent and can recommend this smartphone without any issues. The best alternative smartphone would be the Xiaomi Poco M7 Pro, which delivers better specs in many areas. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
