Realme 13 Plus Smartphone Review – The Realme 13 Plus was announced in August 2024 in India and will go on sale in September 2024. Given Realme’s previous releases, the new phone should be released globally, but the company has yet to offer an official statement about it. The Realme 13 Plus is designed as a premium phone on a budget, so it includes a better display, camera, battery, design, and more to bring tough competition in the budget mid-range category.
However, Realme may find it tough to come back in this market since the premium budget segment is fiercer than ever before. Despite these challenges, Realme believes its included 5G connectivity, along with other features would be enough to entice users. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the new Realme 13 Plus and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Design and Display
The design of the Realme 13 Plus smartphone certainly looks premium, especially with the new design and color choices. It is available in Victory Gold, Speed Green, and Dark Purple colors. The Dark Purple color looks fantastic, and many would mistake it for a flagship. However, the build materials are not as good as it looks. The phone’s body is entirely made of plastic, but it is solid and won’t bend easily.
Overall, the phone is fine, but it certainly takes the cake in the looks department. You will be glad to know that it is protected against dust and water with an IP65 rating. As for the display, the phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, which allows for a smoother user experience. The inclusion of FHD+ resolution and HDR10+ leads to great visual fidelity when watching movies. The display can also get as bright as 2000 nits of brightness under direct sunlight, which will enhance the outdoor experience and provide a better experience.
Memory and Internal
Realme 13 Plus is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 4×2.5GHz. This is a decently powerful chipset, considering the price tag, and it is capable of running most apps and games well without any issues. It can comfortably run apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc, at a decent performance.
As for gaming, it can play games such as CODm, Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, and even Black Desert Mobile at decent framerates. However, don’t expect the highest graphical fidelity/framerates since this is not a gaming smartphone. As long as you keep your expectations to a limit, this chipset will provide satisfactory gaming performance. There are also no overheating issues when gaming with this chipset, which is certainly a very good sign.
The smartphone supports 5G connectivity, so it can provide gigabit download speeds when downloading movies and low latency in gaming. Apart from that, the Realme 13 Plus can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. It also comes with the latest Android 14 with RealmeUI 5.0 user interface, which offers better customization support.
Camera
The Realme 13 Plus features a 50MP triple rear camera system. The main 50MP sensor takes some decent shots. Usually, Realme’s budget phones heavily rely on software post-processing to make photos appear decent at the cost of fine details, but that’s not the case here. The company honestly surprised us with good detail levels and a natural color tone in the pictures.
However, the same cannot be said about the secondary cameras, which are completely useless. Let’s move on to the selfie camera, which is pleasantly good. The 16MP selfie sensor manages to capture somewhat decent selfies with a good amount of details in them. As for video recording, the Realme 13 Plus can shoot up to a maximum resolution of 4K@30FPS from the rear camera, but the selfie camera maxes out at 1080p@30FPS. The main rear camera has both OIS and gyro-EIS, so any footage recorded from this camera will have stable footage, but there’s no stabilization for the selfie camera.
Battery and Others
The Realme 13 Plus has a 5000 mAh high-capacity battery, which can provide about 1 – 2 days of battery life with light usage, which is a plus point for the Realme 13 Plus. Using everyday apps like Facebook, Snapchat, Messenger, and more is light on the system, and achieving 2 days of battery is not difficult. Even with medium to slightly heavier usage, the phone should still last a full day.
However, if you play a lot of games, the battery life will drain significantly faster, and you may need to charge again by the end of the day. Speaking of charging, the Realme 13 Plus has support for 80W of wired fast charging, which should fully charge the smartphone in under 50 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The price of the Realme 13 Plus starts at $274 (Rs 22,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Realme 13 Plus managed to provide what it claimed and that is a premium mid-range experience at a budget price tag. The design is color-accurate and bright, which will surely impress a lot of people. It has a modern design similar to Realme’s higher-priced smartphones. On top of that, the chipset has better gaming performance, considering the price. Even the battery and charging speed are excellent.
The hardware inside is honestly great, and Realme did a good job. The pricing is also okay, but the competition is tough, and other smartphones are offering either better specs at the same price or the same specs at a lower price. For example, the Nothing Phone (2a) comes at a slightly higher price tag but provides much better build quality, design, display, camera, and even faster performance than the Realme 13 Plus. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
