Oppo Reno 6 Pro Pros and Cons

Oppo Reno 6 Lite Review – The Oppo Reno 6 Lite was launched in Mexico and some other markets in January 2022 and with this phone, Oppo decided to bring their exciting camera experience to the audience, after all, the reno series of phones are known for their camera prowess. Everything from the AMOLED screens to the amazing camera performance and battery is pretty good but is it good value considering the money you’ll pay.

It’s certainly not a very cheap phone. Of course, it doesn’t cost as much as the flagship. The phone carries a three-year-old chipset and wasn’t particularly good, even when it was released at the time. But a phone is more than just a chipset, so join us to find out if it’s really worth it. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Oppo Reno 6 Lite smartphone.

Oppo Reno 6 Lite Review

Highlights

  1. The Oppo Reno 6 Lite has 6.43 inches Full HD+ AMOLED display that can get Up to 800 nits peak brightness.
  2. The chipset powering the smartphone is Snapdragon 662 SoC, which clocks up to 2.4GHz at max.
  3. It has Android 11 OS with ColorOS 11.1 UI on top of it.
  4. The main rear camera sensor is 48MP, and it also comes with a 16MP selfie sensor.
  5. The battery has a capacity of Li-Po 5000 mAh and has a decent 33W fast charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Oppo Reno 6 Lite is nothing new. In fact, it’s pretty much a rebrand of the Oppo F19 which also features the same design and spec sheet. It is not to say that the design is bad, it features chamfered and rounded edges to give this phone a comfortable hold and a firm grip. It won’t slip out of your hands easily, but given the price, we were expecting a new design or something different, but it is what it is.

As for the display, the phone has 6.43 inches Full HD+ AMOLED display that comes with 800 nits peak brightness. It has no high refresh rate and defaults 60Hz refresh rate is what you get but the AMOLED panel that you get features accurate colors. There’s really not much special going on, both in terms of design and display. We really expected more considering the price tag and there are various other phones in this segment that features a higher refresh rate panel.

Memory and Internal

Internally, the phone is powered by the 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 4G SoC. For high-performance and gaming needs, The chipset can go up to max 2GHz clocking speed. The chipset is incredibly power-efficient and consumes very little power but it comes at the cost of performance. Besides this, you get Adreno 610 GPU in the Reno 6 Lite smartphone.

So, gaming and performance-wise, you will not very satisfied and will leave a lot to be desired. There will be occasional lag and stutter and the chipset may have overheating issues on heavy uses. The phone comes in only 1 variant, and with it, you get 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If you want to expand storage limits, you also get a dedicated slot in the phone. For the operating system, you get Android 11 OS with ColorOS 11.1 UI on top of it.

Camera

There’s little to be excited about in the camera department, even though the main camera sensor is quite decent. That’s because apart from the 48MP camera sensor, the rest of the two sensors are just 2MP depth and 2MP macro sensor but the selfie camera is a 16MP sensor. With that amount of price, you would at the very least expect an ultra-wide sensor.

The 48MP wide camera is quite good and takes decent pictures with a good amount of details, and the color science is on point. Even the dynamic range under harsh sunlight is captured decently. The 16MP selfie camera is also optimized to take very decent selfies with perfect skin tones and great portraits.

They capture a lot of light to make the images brighter and also contain a good amount of details. The phone also has a dedicated night mode that enhances the low-light pictures even further and night-time photography is quite decent. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot up to 1080p at 30fps from both the rear camera and the selfie camera.

Battery and Others

The Li-Po 5000 mAh battery inside the phone comes along with a 33W fast charger, which can charge the battery up to 54% in its advertised 30 minutes test. This is actually quite good compared to other smartphones in the market.

Plus, the high efficiency of the processor means that the battery will run even longer than ever before. So, expect 2-day battery life with this smartphone easily. The Oppo Reno 6 Lite was launched at the price of $420 (Rs. 32,000 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Oppo Reno 6 Lite smartphone is a somewhat decent smartphone if you like its compact design and main camera performance but the price tag is also not very justified. There are various other smartphones that offer way better specs for around the same price. Just grab the Samsung Galaxy A52s smartphone, which comes with a better screen, camera, 5G support, and chipset, if you’re looking for an alternative option.

It is a way better smartphone in every department, whether that’s the camera, performance, display, or design. However, if you want Oppo branded smartphone, then make sure, it’s not all bad. But before you make a purchase, remember that it has its flaws so check as per your requirement.
