Oppo A60 Smartphone Review – The Oppo A60 was launched in April 2024 and went on sale the same day. The new phone should be released globally, but Oppo has yet to offer an official statement about it. With the new budget smartphone, Oppo is focusing on the design, camera, and battery and wants to bring tough competition in the budget smartphone industry.
But the budget segment is more fierce than ever before and making a decent position in this, especially since it doesn’t even have 5G connectivity. However, it has a great design that looks similar to Oppo’s flagship phones. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the new Oppo A60 and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Design and Display
The design of the Oppo A60 smartphone certainly looks very premium, especially with the new design camera module design. The phone features a flat design but its edges are chamfered, so it is comfortable to hold and doesn’t slip out of your hands easily. The color pattern of the smartphone also looks iconic, especially in the Purple color. There aren’t a lot of smartphones in Purple color, so you are getting a unique color here. If Purple is not your thing, the smartphone is also available in Blue color, which also looks quite fascinating. The phone is also quite slim, so it feels quite good in hand.
The smartphone is also protected by IP54 dust and splash resistance, but don’t take the phone in the pool. As for the display, you will find a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel. This has a 90Hz high refresh rate, which allows for a smoother user experience. The display can also get as bright as 950 nits of brightness under direct sunlight, which will enhance the outdoor experience.
Memory and Internal
Oppo A60 is equipped with the Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 4G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 4×2.4GHz. This is an older chipset from 2021 and it was based on an even older Snapdragon 660 chipset, which was released in 2017. This is certainly not what we had in mind, even at this price point. However, due to decent clock speeds, it can probably run any apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and more at a decent performance.
It won’t run them with superb performance but most apps should work should just fine. For gaming, the chipset comes equipped with the Adreno 610 GPU in the chipset that can play games such as CODm and PUBG mobile. However, don’t expect high framerates or higher graphics. This is not a gaming smartphone, so keep your expectations to a limit.
But the chipset doesn’t overheat when gaming, which is certainly a very good sign. Apart from that, the Oppo A60 can be purchased with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB UFS 2.2 of storage. The Oppo A60 also comes with Android 14 with ColorOS 14 user interface for better customization support. Lastly, the Oppo A60 doesn’t support 5G connectivity.
Camera
The Oppo A60 features a dual-camera system in the back with a 50MP sensor as the main camera and a 2MP sensor as the depth camera. The main 50MP camera may take some decent shots. Many of Oppo’s budget phones are heavily dependent on software for image and video processing, which often makes the photos appear decent even though the fine details are missing, so expect the same here.
The secondary 2MP depth sensor is practically useless and other smartphones in the same price range at least have an ultra-wide sensor as the secondary camera, so we were a bit disappointed. For selfies, you get a selfie camera with an 8MP sensor, which manages to capture somewhat decent selfies that are good enough to be posted on social media. As for video recording, the Oppo A60 can shoot up to a maximum resolution of 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie camera systems. But there’s no stabilization of any kind.
Battery and Others
The Oppo A60 has a 5000 mAh high-capacity battery, which is quite large for a smartphone in this price range. It can provide about 2 – 3 days of battery backup with light usage, which is definitely a plus point for the Oppo A60. It easily beats many other smartphones in the same price bracket. Even with medium to heavier usage, the phone should still last a full day.
However, heavy gaming will decrease the battery life significantly and you may need to charge again. Speaking of charging, the Oppo A60 has support for 45W of wired fast charging. It is capable of charging the smartphone to 50% in just 30 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, stereo speakers, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The price of the Oppo A60 starts at $180 (Rs 14,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Oppo A60 smartphone some home manages to provide what a user expects from a budget smartphone. The design is brilliant and will surely impress a lot of people. It has a modern design similar to Oppo’s higher-end smartphones, which cost a lot more. The battery is also excellent and may last for 2 – 3 days depending on the usage. The main camera of the smartphone is also good for the price tag.
Our main complaint about the camera is due to the lack of any usable secondary camera. Apart from that, there are other issues as well, including the use of older SoC, lack of 5G connectivity, and lack of 1080p resolution. These things could be a deal breaker for many users. These things would have been acceptable if the pricing was decent but is not.
It has low-budget specs but asks for a price that is beyond its actual value. Other smartphones in the same price bucket are offering much better specs. For example, the Samsung Galaxy M34 is around the same price bracket and yet it offers vastly superior specs, including a better display, chipset, cameras, battery, and even design. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
