Design and Display

The Motorola Moto S30 Pro appears to have a matte finish design layout that looks pretty premium and gives a classic appearance to the phone. Usually, Motorola phones don’t have an aesthetic design, but the recently released phones are changing that perspective with a unique and refreshing layout.

It doesn’t even look that glossy like many glass body phones. With this aspect, the phone stands out from the various smartphone. Following this, the company makes sure users get enough shade options. So they have includes the Black and Blue color variant from which you can choose anything that fits well to your preference. Aside from this, the phone doesn’t feel that bulky as it got a slim side panel.

Since the Moto S30 Pro has a relatively small battery capacity, you won’t feel the phone that much, and the sleek slim body makes the holding experience superb. Although, there’s no denying that the phone feels a bit slipper without a cover. But, the overall built quality is good according to the mid-range smartphone segment with smooth edges at the corners.

Though the new camera module design looks great on the back panel, the front panel doesn’t have thick bezels. Instead of that, you are getting a 2.5D display, which will improve the content viewing quality. The 6.55-inches P-OLED panel has a small dot-notch selfie camera with a pretty smooth and curved display. Since you are getting an OLED display, having an under-display fingerprint scanner is obvious.

Aside from the fingerprint, you can also add face ID, PIN, and Pattern password to increase security. In terms of the viewing experience, the phone won’t feel that underwhelming as the color saturation and contrast are quite good. Moreover, the company also adds up 144Hz refresh which will further boost smoothness while wandering around the interface. Furthermore, the HDR10+ gives better details while watching content.

On the other hand, it got average brightness nits support. The smartphone makers also include the splash resistance coating, which is more or less good for the Moto S30 Pro. Although having these features doesn’t feel necessary instead of that if the company provides better drop protection, it would be a cherry on top. Anyway, the overall display experience would not disappoint you.

Memory and Internal

Under the hood, the Motorola Moto S30 Pro is powered by the 5nm Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset. It’s a brilliant chipset that precisely handles the multi-tasking ad and renders a seamlessly smooth user experience with a pretty good custom skin. The combination of hardware and software is quite rare to be seen in the mid-range smartphone. The Moto S30 Pro grant better interface features with competitively less bloatware.

Although, there’s no denying that the Android 12-based MYUI 4.0 don’t have a pre-installed bloatware app. But it’s a good thing that you can easily remove it from the interface within a few clicks. As for the customization perks, you will attain everything that the latest Android 12 can offer, while modifying the interface is also possible with lots of personalized traits. On top of that, you can adjust the refresh rate.

But we prefer to use the phone at 144Hz as it provides a smooth response as well as in gaming. Through this advanced refresh rate, you will attain a better touch response, which is quite crucial while playing online multiplayer games. Besides this, you can play games at their highest graphic settings thanks to a pretty good Adreno 660 GPU. With this, you will find visuals more appealing and attractive.

Overall, the gaming experience is superb, but if you are looking for a phone for heavy gaming usage, then the Moto S30 Pro might not be the best deal. As you will frequently notice overheating issues. Instead, if you are a casual gamer and play games for fun, then there’s no problem at all.

As for the internal storage options, the company renders four variants from which you can pick anything that fits according to requirements and storage needs. Usually, the 8/128GB variant is sufficient enough for your day-to-day activities. However, if you are searching for a higher storage variant, you can go with 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB RAM and UFS3.1 storage support. Although, you won’t find a MicroSD slot in the SIM tray to expand storing limits.

Camera

The Motorola Moto S30 Pro comes with a pretty typical triple camera module that has a 50MP primary lens that shoots decent daylight photos. Following this, the lowlights photography is not that disappointing either as the company added more depth to the blacks and render crisp photos with the night mode. When we click on some photos in the dark, the colors and saturation don’t fall behind and give a great result.

In terms of daylight, the color and contrast come with fine details, and you can see various other options such as HDR and OIS for the primary lens. Besides this, AI software also plays an important role in bringing the best quality photos and videos. Aside from the main lens, the camera island also holds a 13MP ultra-wide lens. With this lens, you won’t get the same quality as the main lens.

But still, the ultra-wide images have a proper dynamic range with a good amount of detail. But we have noticed that the ultra-wide photos are lacking contrast while covering scenery. But when you are taking a group photo, it works pretty brilliantly and grand. Finally, the triple camera concludes with a 2MP depth lens, which helps in improving portrait mode photos.

The edge detection is crisp and you won’t face any trouble taking portrait photos. Moving to the front display, you will find the 32MP selfie lens that grants impressive image quality and provide ample results during the day as well as a night light. Although, the colors might not look as punchy as the back camera. But still, the overall selfie photo experience was good with various filters and modes of the camera app.

On the other hand, the Moto S30 Pro can easily record up to 4K videos without any hassle at all. Besides this, the native camera app also provides slow-mo and timelapse video recording features that render a dynamic video recording experience with proper gyro-EIS. In terms of the selfie video recording quality, it’s pretty much similar to the main lens.

Battery and Others

The phone brings a 68W charger that will only take less than 35-minutes to completely fuel the battery capacity. The phone usually takes 10-minutes to refuel the battery from flat to 50% capacity, which is quite good as a fast charger. Aside from this, the phone also has additional features such as decent sound output and an impressive 5G sensor that make the overall deal great. Unfortunately, the Motorola S30 Pro smartphone only comes with Li-Po 4400 mAh battery support.

Finally, it’s time to discuss the price point of the Motorola Moto S30 Pro. The starting price is roughly $327 (Rs. 25,990 in India) approx. At this price tag, the phone does appeal to many users who are looking for a performance-packed smartphone in the mid-range segment.

Conclusion

The Motorola Moto S30 Pro smartphone is an all-rounder smartphone that has proper hardware to support your daily activities while providing casual gaming features. In terms of camera, the image quality overall is great with decent video recording options. The display provides amazing colors with a pretty good viewing experience. But at the same time, the battery life is one of the major concerns about this phone.

However, the fast charging compensated for the battery life lackings. Plus, the price option falls in a pretty sweet spot. On the other hand, it’s not confirmed whether the device will appear in the other smartphone markets. Moreover, there’s a high chance that the company will release this phone with a rebranded name in other countries. For now, all we can do is wait until the phone is launched on the global stage.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for alternative options, then we highly recommend you to check out the Poco F4 5G for an amazing performance experience. Aside from this, if you prefer better software usage, then there’s no harm in checking the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G. Compare them and choose the best according to your needs.
