Motorola Moto G60s

Motorola Moto G60s Review, Pros and Cons – The Motorola Moto G60s marked its debut on August 12, 2021. The phone, which was anticipated a few months after the launch of the G60, is now official. Although the price is still high, it’s worth your money. Coming with some attractive features, it becomes a definite choice for smartphone lovers.

A nice feature was added to the Moto G60s smartphone, which was only possible for some standard screen phones. Many security specifications, such as ThinkShield protection, enhance the beauty of using this phone. Coming after the Moto G60, this new version differs in some features. So let’s start the detailed review of the Motorola Moto G60s smartphone.

Motorola Moto G60s Review

Highlights

  1. With a large 6.8 inches display, you are ready to show off your superiority.
  2. Comes with the latest Android 11 operating system, all operations are performed smoothly.
  3. You have to compromise with your desire to play games because the 12nm MediaTek Helio chipset doesn’t deliver much faster performance.
  4. While the former comes with a 108 MP triple camera, this model has a 64 MP main camera.
  5. Coming with a 5000mAh battery, it lasts for a whole day.

Design and Display

As the information shows, the Motorola G60s is a great smartphone, just like the previous one. It comes in two colors, green and blue. With a glossy back panel, it encourages users to hold the phone at least once. The simple layout gives a decent look. The small curved corner at the edges is as simple as other phones. Due to the square-shaped design, it offers a soft grip. There is a quad-camera with LED installed on the back. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel as in the previous version.

On the other hand, there’s a 6.8 inches IPS LCD screen older than current market demands. But you’ll see something new with the Moto G60d model. Where most devices provide a 90Hz refresh rate, the G60s smartphone comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. You can rely on its smooth visual rendering.

Whether you’re watching any animation or playing games, you won’t worry about motion blur. You may notice the high brightness because it can go up to 562 nits in Where most phones are HDR10+ certified, this model comes with only HDR10 certification, and FHD 1080p resolution has been a standard feature for many smartphones.

It is a satisfying feature because the phone is a built-in water repellent design. You will carry a much heavier phone, which weighs 212g. Also, the sidebar comes to 9.6mm thick. It’s not easy to operate with one hand due to its large size. Overall, the screen offers a decent experience.

Memory and Internal

Where the G60 comes with the best combination of built-in features, the Motorola G60s smartphone loses its charm. As you’re spending a higher price than its predecessor, you can expect advanced features from the mode, but you’ll be a little discouraged here. It runs on the Android 11 operating system where every task you do is perfect but there is no custom interface present.

The most disappointing feature is its chipset, which is a 12nm MediaTek Helio G95. You have to commit to high-end gaming or faster performance on every task. It may not be a wise purchase where you will not get the worth of your money at this price range.

On a comparatively smaller budget, you’ll have the best option on the G60. Furthermore, the Octa-core processor also features a lower clock speed, which is 2x 2.05GHz maximum. On the other hand, you will get Mail-G76 MC4, which is not for high-end graphics rendering.

Even there is no interesting storage option. You should be satisfied with just one variant, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. You must expand the storage capacity through the shared microSD card slot. Although the previous model also comes in only one variant, you can check out other alternatives if you want a better combination with a satisfactory budget.

Camera

The camera also plays a significant role in our lives. The quad-camera configuration includes a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. While the combination is enough to capture some good quality photos, it doesn’t satisfy the price that is too high compared to its predecessor or other alternatives.

You will miss OIS and gyro-EIS technology on this phone. It is possible to record 4k videos, but the comparison with its peers is not satisfactory. However, you can rely on its crystal clear image quality in daylight as well as at low light.

On the other hand, the Motorola Moto G60S smartphone comes with a 16 MP selfie camera. A 16 MP lens is great for capturing some of your good moments. But it is recommended not to go shopping just by checking the specifications. It’s interesting to know that you can record 4k videos with your selfie camera. Overall, the camera section isn’t worth your money either.

Battery and Others

Coming to the battery section, you will have a Li-Po 5000mAh battery inside the phone. You can rely on its long-lasting battery life that can last for at least a full day, but if you compare it to its predecessor, you will reject this model and choose the flagship that comes with a 6000mAh battery. But it’s also surprising and satisfying that the company is giving away a 50W fast charger with the Motorola G60s phone. If you still want to buy this phone, you will have to pay $400 (Rs 30,000) approx which looks little overpriced phone.

Motorola Moto G60s Pros and Cons

Down below you can see the list of pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages) of the Motorola Moto G60s smartphone.

pros

  1. Water repellent design.
  2. Tall IPS LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate.
  3. Full HD screen with 562 nits brightness.
  4. Decent image and video quality.
  5. 4K video recording with both side cameras.
  6. NFC enabled.
  7. Great battery life.
  8. 50W fast charger.

cons

  1. Without any gorilla glass protection.
  2. No custom UI support.
  3. Medium performance chipset.
  4. Use a shared micro SD SIM card slot.
  5. Gyro-EIS is missing.
  6. No wireless charging support.
  7. No 5G support.
  8. Single storage and RAM option.
  9. Expensive smartphone.

Conclusion

Packed with good features, the Motorola Moto G60s smartphone loses value when it comes to faster performance. With a less standard chipset and storage capacity constraint, gamers should stay away from the Moto G60s phone. Also, the absence of 5G support makes this phone a confusing choice. Expectations were higher, but this phone couldn’t meet that. It is difficult to imagine how the company could come up with a phone like that when they’ve released a better one on a low budget.

If you are looking for an alternative option, it is recommended that you check out the Mi 11X 5G smartphone with better specs or you can check out our budget 5G smartphones section to explore more.

  1. This is a very poorly written review. I cannot understand half the meaning of some of the sentences. For example, what does this mean “Even there is no interesting storage option.” and “It may not be a wise purchase where you will not get the worth of your money at this price range.”
    Not a helpful review.

    • From your comment, it’s clear that you don’t have technology background. If you read that paragraph, it is clearly indicating what we mean.
“Even there is no interesting storage option”: said because only single RAM and storage available.
“It may not be a wise purchase where you will not get the worth of your money at this price range.”: Said because you’ll get only 12nm chipset in $400.
No matter what you do and how much good content you provide, the haters will always be there.
