Design and Display
The Motorola Moto G55 features a beautiful design that will impress a lot of people. The combination of a flat design with eco-leather in the back provides a really good look for this phone. The use of leather provides a very premium touch in the hand, but the side frame is made of plastic, which was done to keep its price down.
The smartphone is available in Forest Grey, Smoky Green, and Twilight Purple colors. The Motorola Moto G55 is protected against water splashes, but there’s no official IP rating, so you should refrain from jumping into the pool with this phone in your pocket. As for the display, the phone has a 6.49-inch IPS display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.
The screen has an FHD+ resolution and gets decently, so the viewing experience will be quite decent. The display can also get plenty bright, which will deliver a good experience when using the smartphone outdoors. It is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Memory and Internal
The Motorola Moto G55 features the latest MediaTek Dimensity 7025 5G chipset, which can reach clock speeds of up to 2×2.5 GHz. This is a decently powerful chipset in the mid-range category and can run most apps and games smoothly without a hitch. Speaking of gaming, it can play most games with smooth framerates, including Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, and CODm at decently smooth framerates.
But don’t choose max settings in graphically intensive games like the Genshin Impact. This game will have issues running on this chipset at high graphics settings, which may lead to lags and stutters. The chipset also supports 5G connectivity, which will deliver significantly lower latency in multiplayer games and gigabit download speeds.
As for the operating system, the Motorola Moto G55 is running on the Android 14 with a stock user interface for a better experience. For RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB of internal storage. The internal storage can be expanded further through the microSDXC slot. You will also find a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is incredibly rare these days.
Camera
The Motorola Moto G55 sports a 50MP dual rear camera system. The primary camera consists of a 50MP sensor with OIS and it can take some incredible pictures with great detail levels, high dynamic range, and a natural color tone. Motorola smartphones usually don’t have great cameras in this price range, but that’s not the case here.
It is a decent camera that is on par with other smartphones in the same price range. However, the same cannot be said about the secondary 8MP ultra-wide camera. The picture coming from this camera is just average at best and far from the quality of the main camera. It doesn’t even have the OIS capability of the main camera, which could have helped in night photography. That’s why the nights coming from the main camera are far superior to the secondary camera.
For the selfie camera, there’s a 16MP sensor, which can take some great selfies with a natural facial tone and good detail levels. As for video recording, the Motorola Moto G55 can shoot at a maximum resolution of 1080p@60FPS from the rear camera and 1080p@30FPS from the selfie camera. Any footage from the main rear camera will be stabilized due to the OIS but not for the ultra-wide or the selfie cameras.
Battery and Others
The Motorola Moto G55 has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, which may provide up to 1 – 3 days of backup with light to moderate usage. However, the battery will drain faster if you play a lot of games and may not last a full day. The charger supports the 30W wired fast charger, which can fully charge the smartphone in around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Apart from that, the Motorola Moto G55 also has dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Motorola Moto G55 starts at $285 (Rs 23,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion
Motorola has managed to deliver on its promise of delivering a decent Motorola Moto G55 smartphone that is attractive to gamers. Due to its great chipset, most games run flawlessly and even graphically demanding apps run decently. It also has a great design with premium leather materials.
The display and the camera performance are also equally impressive. On top of all that, you will get a fantastic battery that charges pretty quickly. It also has 5G connectivity for when you need the best internet speeds. The list of pros keeps on coming. If the pricing was more competitive, it would have been a fantastic option in the budget mid-range category.
However, its pricing puts it closer to the Nothing Phone (2a), which has an even better design, display, processor, and camera. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
