Motorola Moto G52

Motorola Moto G52 Smartphone Review – The Motorola Moto G52 was announced globally on April 12, 2022, with plans to go on sale in India, followed closely by Europe and later other markets. While Moto G52 may seem like an upgrade over its predecessor the Moto G51, the Moto G52 smartphone lacks the 5G that the predecessor had. It does have a couple of upgrades in other areas, but it can’t be called a complete upgrade. In fact, even Motorola doesn’t think of the new phone as an upgrade, but rather as something that can co-exist with its predecessor.

If we put aside all the comparisons, you will quickly notice that this is one of the most feature-packed and balanced phones available in its price category. It doesn’t look too different from other Motorola phones, but the small changes and refinements that the phone brings make this phone one of the most elegant-looking phones in its price category. With that said, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Motorola Moto G52 smartphone

Motorola Moto G52 Review

Highlights

  1. The Motorola Moto G52 features a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
  2. The chipset inside the phone is the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G SoC clocked at 4x 2.4GHz speed.
  3. The phone arrives with the latest Android 12 out-of-the-box and clean UI experience.
  4. The main rear camera sensor is a 50MP sensor, while the selfie camera is a 16MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a Li-Po 5000mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging.

Design and Display

When it comes to the design of the Motorola Moto G52 smartphone, the phone features a very glossy finish on the back and it is made out of plastic. The sides have a subtle curve that blends in nicely with the plastic frame of the phone. The sides are also made out of plastic, but the phone doesn’t look cheap in any way. In fact, we believe this phone might just be one of the most elegant-looking phones in its price category.

The glossy back gives off a mirror-like finish, like a faded mirror, especially in the Charcoal Gray color. Apart from the Charcoal Gray color, the phone also comes in Porcelain White color. As for the display, you get a gorgeous 6.6-inches AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, and support for a 90Hz refresh rate. The display features excellent colors, contrast, and brightness level. The front of the phone also has one of the narrowest bezels, including the bottom chin plus the phone is a water repellent design. The display doesn’t look washed out at any angle and the phone is incredibly light at just 169g. All in all, the phone is well built.

Memory and Internal

As for the internals, the Motorola Moto G52 smartphone is powered by the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC. This is a 4G SoC, meaning it only has an integrated 4G modem and so there’s no room for 5G connectivity. This Chipset has a 4+4 core configuration. The first 4 cores are the powerful Kryo 265 gold cores clocked at 4x 2.4 GHz, while the other 4 cores are the power-efficient Kryo 265 silver cores clocked at 4x 1.9 GHz speed.

The SoC is designed with a 6nm manufacturing process, and this gives this SoC an incredible edge when it comes to efficiency. This decreases the power consumption of the chipset. The chipset also features the Adreno 610 GPU which can run many games, including PUBG and CODm, although you will have to lower the graphics to enjoy a stable framerate. As you know already, the chipset is very power efficient and it doesn’t overheat on lite uses.

The phone comes in 2 variants, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If you plan to upgrade the storage later, there’s support for microSD as well using a shared SIM slot. The phone runs on stock Android 12 out of the box but unfortunately, you will not get any custom UI support.

Camera

The phone has a triple-camera setup, with a 50MP sensor as the main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. The pictures from the main camera are quite amazing with good enough detail and great color balance. The dynamic range is average and the background of the subject can be overexposed in some shots, but it is not acceptable, especially when considering the price of the smartphone. The edges around the subject blend perfectly in daylight and don’t look out of the ordinary.

Pictures taken during the low light are average, but in extremely dark environments, images do suffer a bit and there’s a considerable drop in detail level. That’s to be expected, no smartphone can take perfect pictures in extremely dark environments. Also, the 8MP ultra-wide is not bad at all in daylight.

Overall the picture quality is good enough to post on social media without needing to apply any filters. The 16MP selfie sensor is also average and can take decent selfies in daylight. When it comes to video recording, both the rear and the selfie camera can record max 1080p resolution video without any support for gyro-EIS which is a big disappointment for Motorola fans.

Battery and Others

The new Motorola Moto G52 smartphone has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery and the battery can last for a full day. Even with moderate to heavy usage, the phone can give up to 7hours of screen time.

For charging, you get the 30W fast-charger with the Moto G52 smartphone. There is no support for reverse charging or wireless charging, which was not expected with this phone. The phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C 2.0 connector for charging. You can also get NFC support with is definitely a plus point. Talking about the price of the Motorola Moto G52 it is available at $399 (Rs 30,000 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Motorola Moto G52 smartphone comes with decent specs with the latest Android 12 OS out of the box. If you are a big fan of Motorola and looking for a pure Android phone with a good design, display, and battery then the Moto G52 smartphone will be the perfect phone for you.

The price is not fully justified taking into account the internal specifications you get from this smartphone. If you want to take a look at an alternative option, the OnePlus Ace smartphone is an excellent smartphone that is currently available in the same price range. You can even get a better screen, camera, and battery support on the OnePlus Ace phone, plus 5G support is also available.
