Motorola Moto G50

Motorola Moto G50 Review, Pros and Cons – Motorola’s smartphone is generally known for its mid-range Android device. This is the particular case of the Motorola Moto G50 as well. Launching on the European market last month, it attracts your attention with its simple representation of features and other components. Also, it has the latest 5G technology.

The Motorola Moto G50 smartphone appears to have the same design as the Moto G40 Fusion and Moto G60 launched in India, although this phone is specially created for UK customers. Also, the software layer is pure Android and the hardware configuration is wide. Lastly, the look of the battery and camera is also pretty decent to compare with last year’s phone. It’s just an overview, and now let’s move on to the detailed review of the Motorola Moto G50 smartphone.

Motorola Moto G50 Review

Highlights

  1. The Motorola G50 comes with 6.5 inches IPS LCD panel and 720p resolution that offers subtle pixel density.
  2. You’ll notice a 48MP triple camera plate on the back panel, while the front has a 13MP selfie camera.
  3. Behind the scenes, you’ll have the inexpensive 8nm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset.
  4. As usual, the ad-free and bloatware-free interface comes with the standard Android 11 experience.
  5. A charging speed of 15W comes with the Moto G50’s 5000 mAh battery.

Design and Display

The Moto G50 has an average look due to its polycarbonate body but it’s not that glossy as you are expecting. You can get the matte finishing experience with its Steel Gray shade variant, while the glossy look shows precisely in the Aqua Green version. But, it would be great if the company focused on the construction material of the device. Designing something like the Realme Narzo series might pay off.

On the rear panel, the compact and refreshing design of the camera modules looks enchanting. As for security, you’ll get a rear-mounted fingerprint reader instead of a side-panel fingerprint sensor. But the back-mounted fingerprint reader is the classic Motorola phone design, as the sensor is present at the top of the logo.

Somehow, it creates a bond if you’ve ever used a Motorola device. It is was difficult for the user to switch to another phone, just due to the simple look of the Motorola device. Either way, in the race for low-cost 5G phones, the Moto G50 offers a 6.5 IPS LCD screen that renders a 90Hz refresh rate.

The company also manages to get a decent HD resolution screen that ensures better sharpness and contrast effect on the panel. However, the screen may not be able to maintain the default features. Fortunately, the phone has been given a waterproof coating to protect the internal components.

Memory and Internal

The interesting fact about the Motorola G50 smartphone is that it comes with a robust and economical 8nm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. Being a 5G phone, you can expect a great result 2.0GHz clock speed, but that’s not the case here like the Os 1.8 GHz clock speed have a relatively lower speed. Still, they can even optimize each section of performance and substantially deliver the best results.

On the bright side, Android 11 software layers are very close to the standard Google Pixel interface level. But, getting the latest Android update in the coming years is not released by the manufacturers. Still, the personalization settings are enough to make your day. Although, the visual rendering via the Adreno 619 is below average. The phone equips a 4GB RAM set with 64GB and 128GB of space, while also offering a shared SIM slot for storage expansion.

Fortunately, you can play games without any particular problems, but not in the highest settings. The gaming experience will not be perfect as it lacks a refresh rate and the heat issue can also show up in excessive usage. On the bright side, you’re a great multitasker and the connectivity option provides a great result. Also, it’s a 5G phone, so you won’t have so many problems in the near future.

Camera

Image processing and software quality are the same sides of a coin, as the processor allows you to experience a good quality image even with a low-resolution lens. In the case of the Motorola Moto G50 smartphone, the phone has not gone to extreme heights but remains at ground level as much as possible. The rendering of the AI software isn’t bad.

Speaking of camera lenses, you’ll have a 48MP main camera setting that’s basically adequate, but it’s a little intriguing to see some decent portrait feature at the same time. On the secondary camera unit, additional support is provided through the 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lens that features the dynamic range department.

However, the video recording quality of both side cameras is not that impressive. Still, it’s sad, even though you can only record up to 1080p without gyro-EIS. However, the other features aren’t so bad, and especially the photos of the low light give some decent results with the help of software. In addition, the 13MP selfie camera with a waterdrop notch gives subtle effects and functions. But, the Moto G50 cannot be considered a great camera phone.

Battery and Others

In mid-2021, it seems that every smartphone company has a limit of Li-Po 5000 mAh battery capacity, and the Motorola Moto G50 also follows that. Furthermore, the phone is capable of providing 7 hours of screen time under normal conditions on a single charge via the 15W charger. Except, it will take about two hours to fill the battery 100%.

The Motorola Moto G50 smartphone, owned by Lenovo, established itself in the European market – where it cost about $230 (Rs 16,999) approx for the initial version. As for more storage, you’ll need to add $49 to experience more storage spaces. Either way, the specs, and software are good enough to make a great deal.

Conclusion

The Motorola Moto G50 smartphone is not like any other standard smartphone that has heavy custom UI layers. The Moto G50 has a standard Android interface, which offers a lightweight and bloatware-free interface. Also, the battery life is quite amazing as you can stay active for a long time on a single charge. But on the other hand, camera quality and display section are poor. However, 5G connectivity brings the last hope for this phone.

If you consider Android from pure stock, the Moto G50 can provide a suitable and almost similar result. But on the other hand, you can’t be considered this phone for photography as it lacks software and image processing features. However, if you are looking for an alternative, there are so many options available on the market, like the Nokia X10, which offers slightly superior features.
