Motorola Moto G04s

Motorola Moto E14 Smartphone Review – Motorola’s entry-level phones are terrible or good deals, depending on the price. The smartphone makers know where to play their cards and when. Recently, the company unveiled the new Motorola Moto E14, which is looking phenomenal. It offers an astounding build, crisp design, long-lasting battery life, and other necessary factors. But, there’s no denying that the phone has an equal share of shortcomings.

For instance, the device has below-average hardware configuration, limited storage capabilities, and standard charging support. There are tons of other factors, which can be considered a major flaw. But in today’s day and age, it’s become crucial to find an affordable phone. Brands often overlook creativity when they launch their expensive smartphone segments. The same happened with the Motorola Moto E14. But is it a better option than the previous Moto E13 model or not? Thus, let’s find out in the following review.

Motorola Moto E14 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone arrives with a standard 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with a 90Hz rate display.
  2. As for the software layering, the Android 14 Go edition gives a clean interface with almost zero bloatware.
  3. The hardware configuration brings a Unisoc T606 chipset that can support normal activities.
  4. A decent 13MP camera setup with a 5MP selfie camera will appear on the Motorola Moto E14.
  5. In terms of battery setup, the device has a 5000 mAh battery with 15W wired charging support.

Design and Display

Unlike the previous variants, the company implements a new design with a matte finish. Speaking of which, the Motorola Moto E14 comes with a smooth surface that covers the back panel. Alongside this, the users can choose between Pastel Green, Graphite Gray, and Pastel Purple. All of them look quite fabulous. But if you are searching for a unique paint job, consider getting the Purple or Green variant.

However, the graphite gray variant looked manageable since it had a slightly glossy finish. However, the overall built quality of this device isn’t that bad, even though it’s an entry-level phone. You will obtain an impressive curved body with slightly thick bezels covering the front screen. Besides this, the camera module does look pretty standard in the first impression, while the device has a pretty slim and lightweight body.

As far as the screen protection is concerned, the device is equipped with the Gorilla Glass 3 and Water-repellent design. However, avoid using the phone in water since it might damage the internal hardware circuits. In terms of front display, the 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel attains a dot-notch display with a 90Hz refresh rate support. The navigation would be smooth, while the screen resolution goes up to 720p. If you are looking for a brighter display, it might not be a great choice.

Memory and Internal

The Motorola Moto E14 hardware configuration of the Unisoc T606 chipset isn’t something that you expect even in an affordable smartphone. With this setup, the octa-core setup can only reach up to 2×1.6 GHz cloaking speed. At the same time, the performance aspect is slightly downgraded compared to phones in the same price bracket. Still, you can enjoy normal games and easily stream content without any hassle.

Although, the phone might not be a good choice for long gaming sessions. Moreover, it won’t support the majority of mainstream mobile games. Thankfully, the device is equipped with the Android 14 Go edition, which brings a stable user interface and an interesting customization feature. The GO edition also introduces the Lite version of apps, which seamlessly supports your daily activities.

On the other hand, the graphic unit isn’t worth mentioning since the phone struggles to provide a decent visual experience. The storage capacity might sound questionable as you are getting a 64GB UFS 2.2 with 2GB RAM support. Typically, this configuration isn’t that bad for an entry-level phone. But the primary concern would be the 2GB RAM as it won’t be able to support advanced games and other performance-driven activities. Anyway, you can expand storage using the microSD slot.

Camera

The Android Go platform offers somewhat decent photography and video recording abilities within the Motorola Moto E14. After using the native camera app for a couple of days, the daylight photos present vibrant colors, controlled contrast, and precisely managed hue. However, you will notice grains and slightly off colors when you are clicking the lowlight photos.

Undoubtedly, the phone offers mediocre photos with average image resolution and details. Despite this, the 13MP primary sensors try their best to produce accurate skin tones through the camera software. Following this, the users can expect up to 1080p video recording. But, the results aren’t what you think. The video results are shaky, and it lacks appropriate details.

On the other hand, the phone doesn’t feature any secondary camera lens. Still, it’s good to see that company added a 5MP selfie lens. The daylight photos are improved compared to last year’s Moto E13, while the HD+ resolution video recording is possible with this device. Overall, the camera setup is mediocre, but they are good enough to produce presentable photos.

Battery and Others

Whether you are a casual or a performance user, the Motorola Moto E14 phone will provide roughly 5 hours of screen time. It doesn’t matter whether you are playing games, streaming music, video calling your friends or family, or just scrolling social media. In most cases, the users can squish out four hours of screen time with a 5000 mAh battery. Even after this, 22% battery will remain which can help you run the phone for roughly 30 to 40 minutes.

Besides this, the charging capacity is increased by 5W compared to the previous model. You are getting a 15W charger that can refuel the battery within an hour and a couple of minutes. As for the sensors and comms, the device has a pretty average configuration. Still, it’s good to see a 3.5 mm jack port on this phone. Finally, let’s dive into the price point. The Motorola Moto E14 will cost around $95 (Rs 7,999 in India) approx. Note that the price could differ from country to country.

Conclusion

Currently, the Motorola Moto E14 is available in the UK and European smartphone markets. Besides, the phone was featured on the official website for a while. But, it doesn’t confirm the global availability yet. Still, if you want a decent with a clean UI for calling and other social media activities, then the Moto E14 is a go-to solution. Moreover, this affordable 4G phone also integrated the latest AI technology under the hood.

But even after adding those futuristic technologies, the practical usage of this phone is slightly disappointing. The performance, camera, and display department is something that greatly needs improvement, while the battery performance isn’t that bad. Despite that, we would recommend you to check out the Xiaomi Redmi 13C if you can compromise on the software end, Still, we consider the Motorola Moto E14 to be a good phone according to the price point. Regardless of this, choose a smartphone based on your requirements.
