LG W31 and W31 Plus Review

Highlights

  1. Both meet the standard and provides the LCD IPS screen with a 6.52 inches display and at the top a waterdrop notch camera.
  2. In terms of processing, the Helio P22 chipset is used inside the board to give an adequate performance.
  3. The triple camera configuration integrates with the phone LED flash and the main 13 MP snapper.
  4. The Li-Po 4000 mAh battery pack provides enough power to run for a day and a half without any problems.
  5. The expected price starts at $ 150 (10,999 INR) for the LG W31, and the W31 Plus costs around $ 160 (11,999 INR).

Design and Display

The glossy layout blends into the phone’s surface and presents a premium class feel, although the body is made of plastic. However, the LG W31 has a simple yet elegant look that involves looking back at the phone, the same goes for the LG W31 + (plus). Apparently, the fingerprint reader was presented on the back instead of the side panel, which may not look modern in some cases.

Now speaking of the front screen, the two phones feature a 6.52 inches screen based on IPS LCD technology that renders HD resolution. Although we were expecting Full HD from LGt, still, everything manages because the density of pixels is very good. In addition, the proportion of the body is also quite bright.

Memory and Internal

The LG W31 and W31 Plus are all in one smartphone that features the Helio P22 chipset, which may seem standard, but is best for everyday use unless you try extreme games. On the other hand, the software system keeps Android 10 stocked, which specializes in providing a clean UI experience most of the time.

There is no doubt that it is a basic phone and having the support of 4 GB of RAM seems sufficient. In addition, you can select internal storage between 64 GB for W31 and 128 GB for W31 Plus. The additional feature of this phone is that you can get up to 512 GB of expandable dedicated secondary storage like the microSDXC.

Camera

Like LG W11 budget smartphones, the two models have identical camera configurations that can handle some features, but in general, there are some serious flaws. Either way, the triple camera given on the phone, which basically includes the 13 MP primary wide-angle sensors.

The secondary stage is not impressed with the 5MP Ultra-wide lens and 2 MP depth, which may not be good enough for low light photography. The camera software also plays an important role, as the company hasn’t put much effort into putting something great in this section. As for the front, the 8 MP selfie camera is also suitable for recording video at 1080p.

Battery and Others

There are no signs of fast charging, but both the LG W31 and the W31 Plus feature the 4000 mAh battery which charges through the MicroUSB Type-C 2.0, which may sound unusual, but quite common, as it is a budget smartphone. The battery gives one day of battery life under moderate use. But in a long game session, battery consumption would increase dramatically.

The additional feature that separates the LG W31 and W31 Plus from most budget smartphones is its dedicated AI button, which can be proven to be efficient in many situations. You didn’t have to open your device, and yet, with one click, you’re ready to use Google assistance. If you don’t want to use this button as an AI, you can set it for different use.

Conclusion

Both LG W31 and LG W31 Plus are identical to each other from head to toe, with a marginal difference in storage. However, LG should have released just an LG W31 with two storage variants instead of elaborating LG W31 + at that time.

Fortunately, the price point of both phones is decent since they are specifically designed for India’s market. But at the same price range, there are lots of other smartphones with also the same or even higher features phone. So, the competition is going to be tough for LG. But as a customer, these handsets are a fabulous choice.
