Design and Display
On the back, the edges of the camera module seamlessly curve and perfectly blend with the back of the phone, unlike other phones, where the camera module is a separate package. To be honest, the design of the Infinix Zero 5G seems pretty familiar with the Oppo Find series of phones.
It gives quite a unique look different from the rest of the smartphones in the same price range and it certainly has its own charm. The whole design of the smartphone is simple, sleek, and elegant. The smartphone comes in three colors that are Skylight Orange, Cosmic Black, and Horizon Blue.
While both the black and blue color was your usual glossy finish, the orange colors or Skylight Orange here have a definite rubberized and smooth texture unlike the glossy finish on the other two colors. The Infinix Zero 5G comes with 6.78 inches large IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. So it has a big display and the colors are actually not bad. It’s an IPS panel that comes with 500 nits peak brightness. The 120Hz smooth experience will be enough to compensate for the lack of AMOLED.
Memory and Internal
Inside the phone lies the 6nm Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G SoC which can reach up to 2.4GHz clocking speed. It not only scores high on benchmarks but in real-world performance as well. Swiping and scrolling through the interface is smooth and 120Hz actually works here, unlike some smartphones where the processor is too weak to push such high framerates.
The processor is pretty powerful and you won’t feel any slowdowns. As for gaming, BGMI and COD mobile plays flawlessly with this chipset. The phone comes in 1 variant only and it will get you 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
You also get a dedicated MicroSD card slot in case you need more storage and if you happen to need more than 8GB RAM, which you shouldn’t need, but if you do, you can get 5GB more through virtual RAM. For the operating system, you get Android 11 OS with XOS 10 UI on top of it. The device also supports a dual 5G sim service.
Camera
The camera system on the back is a triple camera setup, but the system here is unique. For the main camera, you get the 48MP sensor but for the second camera, you get a 13MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom which is amazing at this price range. Most other smartphone provides below average 8MP ultra-wide and last but not least, you get a 2MP sensor that is just there to make up the numbers just like every other phone.
The 48MP main camera is quite good and takes decent pictures with a good amount of detail. The colors are on point and the dynamic range is quite decent even under harsh sunlight. The 13MP 2x telephoto camera is also quite decent. The detail level, colors, and depth are nicely captured when there is a good amount of light. But when the lights go out, that is during the night, the pictures do suffer a bit.
They are not bad but there are other phones on the market that can do better during the night. The 16MP selfie camera is also optimized to take decent selfies. They contain a good amount of details and also capture a lot of light to make the images, even when you are outdoors under harsh sunlight. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot up to 4K@30FPS from the rear camera while the selfie camera maxes out at 1080p@30FPS.
Battery and Others
The Infinix Zero 5G has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, which should give you as much as 2 days’ worth of battery and that’s because the SoC is manufactured on a 6nm manufacturing node, which makes this processor highly efficient. So, whether your favorite activities involve gaming, photography, or texting, the phone will last you a long time and when you need to charge again, you will get the 33W fast charger included in the box.
There’s no wireless or reverse charging, but you can’t really expect all of these at the price of $250 (Rs. 19,000 in India) approx. The device also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and a compass, among others, and surprisingly, this phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is getting rare nowadays.
