Infinix Note 40X Smartphone Review – The Infinix Note 40X was announced in August 2024 in India and went on sale a week later. A majority of Infinix’s smartphones usually launch in India first and then go onto the global market. However, the company hasn’t mentioned anything officially yet. The Infinix Note 40X looks similar to Infinix’s other phones launched in 2024.
The smartphone is designed to provide premium features for budget users, so it has 5G connectivity to make it stand out among others. However, 5G connectivity is not the only premium feature of this phone and comes with a bunch of equally interesting features to be competitive. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the new Infinix Note 40X and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Design and Display
The Infinix Note 40X features a flat design language that is similar to other Infinix phones released this year. It even features a similar camera module on the back. The phone has flat sides and a flat rear panel, which provides a stronger grip and prevents it from slipping off your hand. However, the design is so similar to other Infinix phones that it has become a bit boring.
If it at least had a premium build material, it would have been a bit more exciting, but that’s not the case here. The body is completely made up of plastic, but it is at least somewhat protected against dust and water splashes. As for the display, the smartphone has a 6.78-inch IPS display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.
This is a decently accurate display that can get as bright as 500 nits under direct sunlight, so you shouldn’t worry too much about outdoor visibility. The display also has FHD+ resolution, so watching videos and movies will not disappoint. The smartphone is available in Palm Blue, Lime Green, and Starlit Black color options.
Memory and Internal
The Infinix Note 40X is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of 2×2.4 GHz. This chipset has decent performance for the price and can run any everyday apps or games, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and more. As for gaming, it can run most games, such as PUBG Mobile, Black Desert Mobile, Summoners War, and CODm, with a decent performance.
The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU is more than good enough to handle those games, but don’t expect it to break any records for performance. For the OS, the smartphone comes with Android 14 with an XOS 14 user interface, which provides a lot of customization options. The smartphone also supports 5G connectivity, which enables you to download movies at gigabit speeds and play multiplayer games at low latency. As for RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for microSDXC card expansion, which are usually missing in other phones.
Camera
The Infinix Note 40X sports a 108MP triple rear camera system. The primary 108MP rear camera is capable of taking some decent shots. The detail levels are decent, and the color tone also appears naturally most of the time. The picture quality is comparable to other smartphones in the same price range.
However, the 2MP secondary macro camera won’t be useful for anything good. There’s a Quad-LED flash that can help in extremely dark situations, but that’s about it for the rear camera. As for the selfies, there’s an 8MP camera that can take selfies that are decent enough to upload on social media platforms. The selfies are not too bad, but it’s not good either. When it comes to video recording, the rear camera can shoot at a maximum resolution of 1440p@30FPS, while the selfie cameras can shoot at up to 1080p@30FPS. There’s no video stabilization of any kind.
Battery and Others
The Infinix Note 40X has a 5000mAh high-capacity battery, which can deliver 1 – 2 days of battery life with light to medium usage that includes camera, texting, Facebook, YouTube, and making notes. However, playing a lot of games will drain the battery a lot faster, and the smartphone may not even last a full day.
For charging, there’s an 18W wired charger, which will take around 2 – 3 hours to fully charge the smartphone. The lack of decent fast charging is disappointing, but it is what it is. Apart from that, the Infinix Note 40X has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone starts at $178 (Rs 14,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Infinix Note 40X is a decent-budget smartphone. It has got all the basics right and then some more. It has a decent display, a great camera an excellent battery, and a good enough gaming performance. On top of all that, it has 5G connectivity, which is certainly great. The phone even has dust and splash protection.
It’s a fantastic smartphone that is well-balanced for the budget category. For its specs and features, the pricing is all right. However, Infinix could have gone for a slightly faster chipset. At its current pricing, this phone is in direct competition with Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 smartphone, which has a better display, chipset, and faster charging at a slightly higher price tag. If the pricing of the Infinix Note 40X was a bit lower, it would have been the better choice, but that’s not the case anymore. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
