Design and Display
In the budget category, companies don’t really make too many efforts in making a good design but that’s not the case here. The design of the Infinix Hot 50 is clearly quite eye-catching. It has a flat design, which is reminiscent of the iPhone design. The camera module on the rear panel makes the phone appear quite elegant.
The body is made of plastic entirely but the build quality is solid and there’s no creaking or bending of any sort. Overall, the design is great and you will be able to buy the Infinix Hot 50 in four colors, Vibrant Blue, Sleek Black, Sage Green, and Dreamy Purple. The phone also features an IP54 rating for resistance against dust and splash splashes.
On the front, the phone has a large 6.7-inch IPS display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. This is an HD+ display, but it has been color-tuned to provide an excellent viewing experience when watching movies and TV series. The display can get decently bright, so users shouldn’t have any major issues using it outdoors.
Memory and Internal
The Infinix Hot 50 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of up to 2×2.4 GHz. This octa-core chip configuration has enough performance to run all apps and games decently well. This level of chipset performance is also seen on the gaming side of things.
For gaming, it has the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is enough to run games such as PUBGm, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, and even CODm at decent framerates. However, graphics-heavy games like Genshin Impact may not run very smoothly. The smartphone also doesn’t overheat a lot, even during gaming. The smartphone can be purchased with up to 4GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by a microSDXC expansion slot.
There’s also 5G connectivity that will deliver faster download speeds and low latency for even better online gaming performance. The Infinix Hot 50 also has Android 14 with the XOS 14.5 user interface for better customization support. The smartphone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Camera
The Infinix Hot 50 comes with a 48MP rear camera system. The main camera features a 48MP sensor and pictures from this camera have more details in them and have a high dynamic range. The color range also looks great and natural. Overall, the images were mostly noise-free and looked nice. There’s support for portrait mode as well and pictures taken with this mode are also good with decent enough background blur.
However, the other two cameras are pretty useless and they are there just for the show. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera that can take some decent selfies but lacks the fine details but the color tone was alright. On top of that, both the front and the rear cameras support video recording. There’s no support for 4K high-res recording or video stabilization of any kind.
Battery and Others
The Infinix Hot 50 has a 5000mAh battery and it will easily last for around 2 – 3 days on light usage that includes texting, camera, social media, YouTube, and more. This is possible due to the use of a large battery and a power-efficient chipset. However, with gaming and heavy multitasking workloads, the smartphone may not last a full day.
When the battery does get low on charge, the included 18W wired fast charger can fully charge the battery in about 3 hours. A bit faster 33W charger would have been certainly better but we can’t complain at this budget price tag. Speaking of pricing, the smartphone will soon go on sale at a starting cost of $120 (Rs 9,999 in India) approx. The Infinix Hot 50 also comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, OTG, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C for charging.

Conclusion
Infinix delivered the promise it made with the Infinix Hot 50 smartphone. It is a great budget smartphone that will not disappoint you. It has a decent display with accurate colors for a better viewing experience. Its chipset is powerful enough to play modern games at decent framerates and even has a 5G modem inside. The rear camera performance is also equally impressive and so is the battery life.
On top of all that, it has an eye-catching design that looks quite cool. Usually, budget phones do not have a great design but the Infinix Hot 50 does. The pricing was also done right and will be an attractive option for anyone looking to buy a new phone in this price range. It certainly falls on our recommendation list.
However, two caveats are holding it back for some users. They are the lack of FHD+ resolution and a slow charging system. The one alternative smartphone to this would be the Xiaomi Poco M6 Pro, which has an FHD+ display. But the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
