In this article, we are going to compare three smartphones – Huawei P40 Pro Plus vs P40 Pro vs P40. These are the latest 5G smartphones from Huawei. We will discuss each of the phones separately.

Huawei P40 Smartphone

Let’s start with Huawei P40, it was launched in March 2020. It sports a 6.1 inches Full HD+ OLED display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio. It supports either single or hybrid dual SIM. It is running on Android 10 EMUI 10.1 but it doesn’t have any Google apps or services. It is equipped with HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G processor along with Mali-G76 MP16 GPU.

There are four variants of P40 including Huawei P40 Lite based on memory – 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and, finally 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. However, secondary storage can be expanded via an external SD card. The storage type is UFS 3.0 which is quite faster than eMMC.

It has basically a triple camera setup – 50MP main sensor, 8MP telephoto lens having 3x optical zoom and, 16MP ultra-wide lens. The main highlights are 4K video recording, video stabilization with EIS, and super slow-motion recording. For selfies, Huawei has provided a 32MP wide-angle camera along with TOF 3D sensor for biometric authentications. There is support for 4K video in selfie camera too.

Huawei has included infrared face recognition and optical fingerprint scanner for security. Talking about the battery, there is a 3800 mAh battery with 22.5watt fast charging. However, there is no audio jack port but NFC is there. It might be sold with a price tag of USD 550.

Huawei P40 Pro Smartphone

Huawei P40 Pro was also launched in March 2020 with a weight of 209g. P40 Pro is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. It has a bigger screen of 6.58 inches as compared to P40 and P40 Pro has a resolution of 1200 x 2640 pixels. It supports HDR 10 for better visuals and has a higher refresh rate of 90Hz.

P40 Pro is equipped with EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 without any Google apps. It boards the same processor as in P40 that is HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G. Though it has almost the same variants based on memory in comparison to P40, there is one more memory variant that is 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

P40 Pro has a quad-camera setup of 50MP main sensor, 12MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, 40MP ultra-wide lens, and TOF 3D sensor. It supports video stabilization, 4K recording as well as slow-motion recording at 7680 fps. There is no difference between Huawei P40 and P40 Pro in the selfie camera section.

The Pro version has a bigger battery of 4200mAh with 40W fast wired charging and 27W fast wireless charging. Interestingly, there is support for 27W reverse wireless charging too. It is expected to be launched around USD 899.

P40 Pro Plus vs P40 Pro vs P40

Huawei P40 Pro Plus Smartphone

Huawei P40 Pro Plus also was launched alongside P40 and P40 Pro in March. It has almost the same specifications as P40 Pro has got. There are differences such as the Plus version has a ceramic back along with the ceramic frame. It has IP68 certification too for dust and water protection.

However, the P40 Pro Plus has five cameras setup on the back – 50MP main sensor with OIS, 8MP periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, 40MP ultra-wide lens, and TOF 3D sensor. There is no improvement in the selfie section and it also has the same security features as in P40 Pro.

The phone is available in two color variants – White Ceramic and Black Ceramic. It is expected to be priced at around USD 1500 (INR 110,000).

Huawei P40 Pro Plus vs P40 Pro vs P40: Similarities and Differences

All three Huawei P40 series have almost the same specifications with subtle differences. They have differences in their camera section as well as in battery and charging capabilities. Also, the P40 Pro Plus has a ceramic body design while the other two have glass body design. It is good to see that all three smartphones have IP68 ratings for better protection.
