Design and Display
The design of the Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate is similar to its predecessor, Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate but that’s not a bad thing since it’s a solid design. The side and the mid-frame are made of Titanium Alloy, which not only gives strength and rigidity to the phone but also makes it more sophisticated. After all, Titanium is stronger than both Stainless Steel and Aluminum but is also more expensive.
However, the rear panel is made of glass, which is necessary for a wireless charging system, and it also feels premium to the touch. The phone is protected from dust and water with an IP68/69 rating. As for the display, this smartphone has a 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel can display up to 1 billion colors, eliminating the color banding issue in other phones and boosting visual performance. The display can also get as bright as 3500 nits under direct sunlight outdoors, which is quite bright and won’t cause any issues viewing the screen. The screen is protected by Huawei’s proprietary Kunlun Glass and the phone is available in Black, White, and Red color options.
Memory and Internal
The new Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate is equipped with a Kirin 5G processor that is indigenously developed by Huawei. It won’t be as fast as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset but has enough performance to run anything you throw at it, including the most graphically demanding games like CODm, PUBG, Genshin Impact, and Black Desert Mobile well. The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate is also equipped with HarmonyOS 4.3.
The smartphone also has 5G connectivity support, which can deliver gigabit download speeds and low latency in multiplayer games. The new foldable phone be purchased with the following RAM and storage configurations: 16GB + 512GB, 16GB + 1TB. There’s no headphone jack but the phone does have a stereo speaker system.
Camera
The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate has a new 50MP triple rear camera system. The primary camera consists of a 50MP sensor, which is capable of taking some amazing shots and they tend to have higher detail levels, accurate color tone, and a high dynamic range. The camera performance is a seriously impressive camera and can go toe-to-toe with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 or even beat it in certain scenarios.
The 40MP ultra-wide camera is also quite capable and can capture pictures with a 120° field of view, which is perfect for group shots. These pictures also have high detail levels and there’s little to no shift in colors compared to the main camera in many scenarios. There’s also a 48MP telephoto camera that can capture pictures with 3.5x optical zoom and the pictures simply look fantastic.
There’s also a night mode present in the smartphone, which can deliver better noise-free pictures. For selfies, you get a 13MP ultrawide selfie camera, which takes some decent pictures with superb detail levels. When it comes to video recording, both the rear and selfie cameras are capable of recording videos at 4K. The primary rear cameras also have OIS and gyro-EIS for stable video recording.
Battery and Others
The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate is equipped with a 5700mAh battery, which can last 1 – 3 days on a lighter usage. This is possible due to the use of the new Silicon carbon battery technology. Even with heavier usage, the new phone should still last a full day and then some more. However, the battery will drain faster if you do a lot of gaming. It may not even last a full day in that case.
As for charging, the Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate supports 100W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the phone in under 30 minutes. There’s also an 80W wireless fast charging support, which is not as fast as the wired charging but can still fully charge the phone in around 45 minutes. The smartphone has 20W reverse wireless and 18W reverse wired charging support. Apart from that, the phone has support for dual-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, an infrared port, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The phone has BDS Satellite Calling and Message and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support. As for pricing, the phone starts at $1328 (Rs 1,11,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion
Huawei has managed to do exactly what it promised, a flagship smartphone with an ultimate camera performance. The images coming out of the Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate’s camera will shock you but it’s not the only surprising part. The design and display are just as good. The same goes for the gaming performance. The battery life is also excellent and the charging speed is mind-blowing.
The phone is also well-protected from dust, water, and scratches. All in all, it’s a fantastic smartphone and you won’t find anything to complain about. The only con is the pricing, which feels a bit too expensive. What the Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate delivers is quite good but it is nothing unique. Other phones can also deliver a similar performance while costing significantly less.
The Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate is a really great device, yet we cannot recommend it at this price. We will recommend the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra instead. It costs much less and delivers a similar experience in every aspect of the phone, including its camera capabilities. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
