Huawei Mate 40 Pro Review

Highlights

  1. Huawei Mate 40 Pro displays a curved 6.76 inches Flex OLED 90Hz screen panel.
  2. The company increased its charging power from 40W to 66W compared to the previous generation.
  3. Mate 40 Pro features Huawei’s highly efficient and powerful SoC Kirin 9000 (5nm).
  4. An exceptional next-level camera ring is housed at the rear for professional photographers.
  5. The company took care of the durability and safety by providing the IP68 rating.

Design and Display

Thanks to Huawei for creating the Mate 40 Pro with great care and dedication, providing us with an impressive colorful gradient finish. In fact, colors change if you look from different angles and perspectives.

The so-called Space Ring camera configuration dominates the rear panel, while on the sides we have a dedicated red-colored power button. The curved 88-degree screen gives the Mate 40 Pro an edge over other flagships and offers a premium feel.

As we shift our attention to the screen, with which we will be interacting frequently, no one can deny an incredible experience with the 6.76 inches OLED screen with HDR10 and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The curved edges can be used as volume buttons for convenience similar to the Always-On-Display, Huawei has incorporated the Eyes-on feature that makes the screen wake up only when you take a look.

Memory and Internal

The 5nm based Kirin 9000 chipset clocked at 3.13 GHz speed for splendid performance during intense gaming sessions. With over 15 billion transistors, you can easily glide through apps and experience smooth transitions and animations.

There is no room for delays or dropouts in the presence of the Mali-G78 GPU. The device has EMUI 11 UI running on top of Android 10 with abundant interesting features, such as guest account, Multi-window, story creator, access controls, etc.

Let’s go to the memory department, here the company offers a decent combination of 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of super-fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. In case you still run out of storage in some way, there is always an option to expand it via an external SD card. Check out the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Smartphone advantages and disadvantages.

Camera

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes with a ring shape triple-camera system is powered by Leica Optics for incredible colors, details, and sharpness. The space ring camera consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 20MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP periscopic telephoto lens.

With XD Fusion HDR support, we can record Cinema videos in excellent detail, even in low light conditions. Additional features include 5x optical zoom, ultra slow motion, light painting, dual view video, etc.

Moving to the front side, we welcome a 13MP camera and 3D TOF camera module that captures very detailed selfies, with less natural colors. The intelligent field of view helps us to get group selfies with AI functions. Leaving selfies aside, the 3D sensor helps the device to be unlocked with just a glimpse, no matter how the lighting is.

Battery and Others

Although the Mate 40 Pro’s 4400mAh Li-Po battery is only 100mAh smaller than the previous generation, the wired charging technology has been significantly upgraded from 40W to 66W. In addition, wireless charging support extends up to 50W now.

In today’s world, battery capacity is somewhat competent and should last a day with great ease. For security and protection, you get a fingerprint reader on the display to unlock an IP68 rating to go against the edges.

Ultimately, we want to know what is most important, the price at which it sells in online stores. The Mate 40 Pro can be available very soon with an expected price of $ 1420 (1,04,600 INR).
