Design and Display

Undoubtedly, the Honor phones are known for producing visually appealing phones and they often offer premium design layout, which will loved by millions of users. With the Honor Magic V Flip phone, you will receive three potion designs. To be precise, it consists of the main screen, back screen, and back panel with a hinge. The back panel presents a 4-inch LTPO OLED display, which works the same as the main screen. It also includes a smooth touch experience with Dolby Vision and 1600 nits brightness.

Although the camera module blocks a certain portion of the back panel screen, you can’t do anything special such as watch content. But, the cover screen introduces the regular Always-display features, notifications, and perks. On the other hand, the aluminum frame looks pretty good with the metallic texture, which also appears on the power button and volume rockers. Alongside this, you can choose this phone in four marvelous paint jobs, including White, Black, Green, and Champagne.

If you are looking for something different, you must check the Champagne variety in the meantime. At the same time, the 6.8-inch Foldable LTPO OLED brings impressive colors, contrast, adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and content quality. You can watch up to QHD resolution videos with no trouble, while the phone pushes the brightness limits up to 3000 nits. But unlike other phones, the biometric reader appears on the side panel, which is a pretty unique choice.

Memory and Internal

Under the hood, Honor Magic V Flip attains the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Typically, this hardware configuration can handle performance-driven activities and support overclocking. Plus, the octa-core process can push the processing speed limit to 1×3.0GHz cloaking speed, which is considerably good for a flip phone. It tags along with the Adreno 730 GPU configuration, which can effortlessly handle gaming performance, stabilize graphics, and further enhance the gameplay experience.

Yet, the phone lacks when it comes to gaming-centric features. But still, having advanced refresh rates, higher cloaking speed, and decent graphic unit manage the overall performance aspect properly. At the same moment, the device is equipped with the Android 14 and a custom skin of the MagicOS 8 interface. But, you will only be able to download the regional Chinese apps on this device except for the Google ecosystem app.

However, creating a personalized interface is possible for the users, so modify the app drawer, add your favorite image as wallpaper, and insert widgets. Apart from this, the storage department is also something that makes this phone special since you can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB space that will be accompanied by a 12GB to 16GB RAM configuration. Generally, you will obtain secondary storage unit support too. But sadly, there’s no extra slot in the SIM tray for international storage expansion in this phone.

Camera

Honor Magic V Flip brings 50MP as the primary camera setup. A few days ago, the Honor 200 Pro offered the same primary lens, and the results were phenomenal. With this, you can expect exceptional camera performance from the Magic V Flip phone. The daylight photos look quite great with accurate colors, crisp contrast, and appropriate saturation according to the background lights. Alongside this, the main sensor offers optical image stabilization support, which can produce high-quality photos with ease.

Following this, you can also rely on a 12MP ultra-wide lens to capture impressive photos with an accurate dynamic range. Although, the colors are slightly whitewashed. But, the users will receive amazing details in each photo. But when it comes to the native camera, you don’t have to worry about filters since you can easily adjust the color values and pick filters as per your needs. In terms of the lowlight photos, the device provides beautiful night photos.

The skin tone looks natural in the lowlights, while noise and distortion in the background are barely visible. On the front, the Honor Magic V Flip houses a 50MP selfie lens that can capture stunning photos and videos. As far as the video recording is concerned, the phone can produce up to 4K resolution videos with gyro-EIS support. It also applies to the primary camera setup, while you will receive additional video recording modes such as slow-mo, timelapse, and more!

Battery and Others

The Honor Magic V Flip comes with a 4800 mAh battery, which can grant up to 4+ hours of screen time in normal usage. Besides, the adaptive brightness can increase the screen time to a certain extent. Following this, if you are playing games, the phone might able to only provide three hours’ worth of screen time. However, you don’t have to worry about the charging speed since the device renders a 66W wired charger.

With the charger, the users can refuel the battery within 45 minutes or less depending on the battery percentage. In terms of the sound output, the stereo speakers can produce impressive audio. Although, the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other comms are pretty much the same as any mid-range phone. Still, you are getting an ultrasonic sensor under the hood. Anyway, the Honor Magic V Flip starting price is around  $694 (Rs 57,990 in India) approx.

Moreover, the device includes good enough performance, stunning camera results, and decent battery life. It could be considered one of the flip phones of the 2024.

However, there’s no confirmation about the global version from Honor, and it’s more like a China-exclusive phone from the outer shell.
