Honor X9c

Honor Magic 7 Lite Smartphone Review – The Honor Magic 7 lineup phones usually bring a decent device with unique features and specs combination. Recently, Honor released the Magic 7 Lite. It’s a downgraded version of the standard Honor Magic 7 with a few changes in the specs. But it doesn’t mean that the phone is flawed. Those changes only make this more affordable while cutting corners.

The smartphone makers didn’t give that much importance to their lite version. But the Magic 7 lite is a different story. Unlike other handsets, the phone has improved software experience, fast charging, and an above-average chipset. All of those factors combined make this phone a budget-friendly device. Currently, the device is available in the European smartphone markets. Yet, there’s precise info about the global release. With that said, let’s see whether the device is worth purchasing from the Honor Magic 7 Lite review.

Honor Magic 7 Lite Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. For the starter, a curved 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and exceptional brightness.
  2. The customization department is handled through the MagicOS 8 with the Android 14 update.
  3. The device runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset that supports everyday routine.
  4. A 108MP dual camera setup grants fabulous photos and video recording capabilities, while a 16MP selfie lens didn’t fall behind.
  5. A massive 6600 mAh battery ensures long-lasting screen time and faster charging up to 66W.

Design and Display

The Magic 7 Lite carries the same built and design layout as the Honor Magic 7 and 7 Pro. At first glance, you can’t differentiate between these three devices. Furthermore, the company provides two stunning color variants from which you can pick the best. The Titanium Purple and Titanium Black come with a glossy finish that makes the device prone to fingerprint smudges.

However, Honor introduces a lightweight and slim build for the Magic 7 Lite. On first impression, you might not guess that it houses an enormous battery. Besides this, the device has the IP64 certification, which can reduce water and dust damage to a certain extent. But don’t try to submerge the phone in water. As for security, the biometric scanner appears on top of the screen.

On the other hand, the curved 6.78-inch AMOLED display has thin bezels. You won’t notice top and chin bezels during your viewing experience. In terms of navigation, the 120Hz refresh rate gives a smooth response. Alongside this, the company claims to provide 4000 nits brightness. With this display, outdoor usage would become pleasant. Yet, there’s no info about corning glass protection.

Memory and Internal

The 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 ensures decent usage. Running different apps and games and even multitasking to some level is possible with the Snapdragon chipset. Visuals and graphics could have improved. But basic gaming is achievable with a 120Hz refresh rate. Alongside this, the RAM configuration is also crucial. With Honor Magic 7 Lite, you get 6GB to 12GB of RAM.

As for the storage capacity, the device is feasible in 256GB and 512GB without external storage unit support. As for the storage layering, the Android 14-based MagicOS 8 brings an iOS-inspired UI. From the app layout to the settings menu, there are lots of similarities. But, the selfie camera module hides some of the notifications. Having an iPhone-like interface is good.

But, when it comes to practical usage, the performance is pretty much as a regular Android phone. At the same time, the company didn’t disclose information about system updates. Nevertheless, the gaming improves with the Adreno 710 GPU as users can push the visual limits. If you enjoy playing games, you won’t find lags or other problems. Plus, the touch response is enhanced through a refresh rate.

Camera

Giving a whole lineup an identical look is fantastic! But why are four cameras opening when the Honor Magic 7 Lite phone has a dual camera? The Honor Magic 7 houses a 108MP primary and a 5MP ultra-wide, the third hole has an LED light, and the last one is for show. It could have a quad camera setup, but this design isn’t that bad either. The camera island is covered with a beautiful metallic ring that enhances the back panel.

On the other hand, the 16MP selfie camera has a huge notch, even though it’s a single-cam setup. Anyway, let’s talk about the camera results. The daylight photos bring vibrant colors with dynamic range support. If you are using the primary sensor, the details are accurate. The portrait mode pictures look great with a controlled blur effect. The camera software precisely identifies the object and adds blur to the background.

The ultra-wide images give superb results depending on the light condition. Yet, the lowlight photography can be considered the biggest downside of this camera setup. The selfie camera captures natural skin tones and clicks social media-ready photos. The Magic 7 Lite supports 4K clips at 30fps, which is plenty for a mid-range phone. But, the lack of video stabilization is a negative point for the users.

Battery and Others

Under the hood, you will find a massive 6600 mAh battery that can support whole-day battery backup. You can enjoy your daily activities and recharge Magic 7 Lite through a 66W charger. If you aren’t using the official Honor charger, you might notice some issues — such as slow charging, overheating, and battery damage.

Apart from comms, the phone also features eSIM support, which is usually reserved for the flagship options. On the other hand, the stereo speakers give ample audio output with clear bass and smooth treble. Sadly, you will only receive a charging cable, no charger, inside the box. The Honor Magic 7 Lite cost around $384 (Rs 32,990 in India) approx. If you want an excellent phone, you should consider purchasing it.

Conclusion

Those days were gone when Honor used to release flawless phones back to back. And after 2020, most honor phones were going downhill. But the Honor Magic 7 Lite comes out as a refreshing breeze. It comes as a budget-centric phone and delivers according to the price point. Moreover, it features liquid screen protection, higher storage capacity, a curved display, etc.

For example, performance is sluggish if you are an extreme user. Lowlight pictures would have been better. The software interface gives a mixed-bag response. Some core Android settings and the latest AI perks are missing. If those things don’t bother you, purchase this phone. If you want an all-rounder phone at a similar pricing, check out the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro. It has a high-end processor for heavy usage, decent camera results, and a huge battery. All of that while costing less. Lastly, the decision is yours, so choose wisely.
