Doogee S100 Pros and Cons

Doogee S100 Smartphone Review – The Doogee smartphone is usually known for its rugged phones that provide robustly built quality and long battery life for extreme usage. Not too long ago, we reviewed the Doogee V Max which appears with a 20000 mAh battery capacity under the hood. Alongside this, the company also introduced its new smartphone, Doogee S100 for USA and china markets.

Although, it might not get as much battery capacity as the V Max. But still, there are several aspects where this phone thrives most. Generally, the Doogee smartphone comes with a standard bundle of specs with a sprinkle of protective coating, an IP rating, and a decently built body. But this time, the company also improve the camera factor of their phones, which will be worth noting in the following review. Let’s head toward the Doogee S100 review to find out more details about this phone.

Doogee S100 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The device got a standard 6.58 inches IPS LCD panel with FHD resolution support.
  2. As for the hardware configuration, you will find the Helio G99 chipset with 4G connectivity.
  3. In terms of the software end, the company renders the Android 12 skin with subtle features to interact.
  4. A 108MP triple camera with a dedicated night vision lens appears on this phone and offers a 32MP selfie lens.
  5. A Li-Po 10800 mAh battery can be refueled through a 66W wired or 15W wireless.

Design and Display

Just like most phones, the Doogee S100 smartphone arrives with the far-fetched armored smartphone built with robust protection offered by military-grade material. At first instance, the phone looks like a brick as you are getting a pretty huge battery backup under the hood. But still, you can hold the phone with a single hand. Aside from this, there are three shade options that you can try.

You can pick between the Ice Blue, Classic Black, and Cyber Yellow color variants. All of them provide a premium leather texture on the back panel, while the side panel is covered with plastic material to reduce drop damage. On top of that, you will notice that the phone comes with a fingerprint scanner on the power button. Besides this, it works fast so the overall user experience could be great.

Although you are not getting the top-notch level of display quality with the regular 6.58 inches IPS LCD panel it is good to see that the company at least provides an FHD resolution cap, so the content viewing experience can be decent to some extent. However, the phone does look when it comes to proper brightness level and higher refresh support. The display is also protected by water and dust resistance and gorilla glass.

Memory and Internal

The hardware section is always been an important aspect when you are choosing any phone. Inside the Doogee S100, you will receive the 6nm Mediatel MT8781 Helio G99 chipset that powered the entire system at 2×2.2GHz cloaking speed, which is considered average. But what you can expect from a standard 4G chipset? Although, it provides decent Mali-G57 MC2 graphics.

But still, the gaming sessions with this graphic unit feel underwhelming as you are not getting an advanced refresh rate or better touch response. Aside from this, the company is providing the Android 12 interface, which will allow you to modify the system appearance in just a few clicks. The settings menu is pretty similar to the stock Android with some exceptions here and there.

On the other hand, smartphone makers are providing a decent configuration of internal storage and RAM support. You will obtain 256GB space that will be more than sufficient to store all of your multimedia data in one place and offers a 12GB RAM configuration. With that, you will obtain UFS 2.2 memory type that increases load and save time. Moreover, it comes with a shared SIM slot to expand the storage limits.

Camera

The camera results exceed the overall experience if you are using the native camera features properly. Besides this, the image processing unit with the improved AI software gives impeccable photos and videos. It offers a triple camera setup, which is led by a 108MP primary lens. With this, the users can capture fine details.

In the real-time test, you are getting ample results with daylight photography, while the Doogee S100 smartphone will deliver proper colors and contrast. Although, the same thing doesn’t apply to the lowlight photos as you will notice noise and grains. It will include a dedicated 16MP ultra-wide lens that will provide a 130-degree view. Plus, it will render dynamic range to a certain level.

At the same time, there’s one thing that worth noting. You will obtain a 20MP night vision lens, which is quite helpful if you work in dark. Not only that, but the phone will also provide a 32MP selfie lens that will grant decent colors and contrast support. With this camera setup, you will receive 1440p resolution video recording support.

Battery and Others

Under the hood, the Doogee S100 smartphone is powered by a Li-Po 10800 mAh battery configuration. It will render a decent screen time of 12 hours. At the same time, the phone will stay active for three days straight if you are using the phone normally. Following this, you will obtain 66W wired charging to refill the battery from scratch to 100% in an hour and a half.

Moreover, the device will also support 15W wireless charging. The phone got regular sensors, comms, and decent sound output. But we don’t find the additional 3.5 mm jack port here. The Doogee S100 smartphone is priced at $241.99 (Rs 19,990 in India) approx, which is quite a decent price for a mid-range armored phone.

Conclusion

The Doogee S100 is one of the few exceptional rugged smartphones that comes with decent specs and features. Usually, the armored smartphone lacks in the camera department, but it is not the case for this phone. If you are thinking to purchase this device, we would give you the green signal right away.

On the other hand, if you start looking at the downside, you will find several things. But most of those factors can be neglected if you prefer armored phones over the standard device. In case, you are looking for a standard phone, the Vivo Y56 is an alternative option.
