Cubot X90 Smartphone Review – Cubot released the new Cubot X90 in May 2024 and the smartphone went on sale by the end of that month. Like Cubot’s other smartphones, the X90 smartphone will be available globally and will be available for purchase in many countries via AliExpress. The smartphone looks similar to the POCO smartphones, especially due to the circular camera area.
It is designed to be the best smartphone possible under a budget, so it has premium features like a curved display. However, the smartphone misses out on a few features like 5G connectivity. But Cubot believes its other features more than make up for it. So, let’s find out with a detailed review of the Cubot X90 and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Design and Display
The design of the Cubot X90 is simply gorgeous, especially in the Green color but it looks more like Black. The other is a black color that also looks quite fascinating due to the unique print on the back. The phone features a curved design that looks just as premium as it feels. The display, side frame, and rear panel are all curved, which looks really good.
Speaking of display, the Cubot X90 features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support. The higher refresh rate allows for a smooth user interface. The panel also features an FHD+ resolution and support for up to 1 billion colors, so watching content on the screen will be amazing. The display can also get as bright as 1500 nits under direct sunlight, so using the smartphone under direct sunlight won’t be an issue.
Memory and Internal
The Cubot X90 comes equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 4G chipset, which is capable of delivering a clock speed of up to 2×2.2GHz. The chipset has enough raw performance to run all your everyday apps and games. However, it’s not enough considering the price bracket of the smartphone. Other phones at this price range offer much better chipsets that are way more powerful.
As for gaming, this chipset has the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which can run games like PUBG mobile, CODm, and even Summoners War at relatively smooth framerates. The Cubot X90 is running on Android 14 OS with a stock user interface for better experience. However, Cubot couldn’t equip the smartphone with 5G connectivity to save costs.
However, the smartphone is equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The higher RAM capacity is useless on this phone since the chipset is not fast enough to fully utilize it. Also, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack and no support for a microSDXC expansion slot to expand your internal storage later.
Camera
The Cubot X90 comes with a 100MP triple-camera system. The main camera features a 100MP sensor that is capable of capturing pictures with high detail, decent color levels, and high dynamic range. There’s also a 16MP ultra-wide camera, which is just as impressive as the main camera. The details are good and the colors don’t look washed out.
There’s another 5MP sensor for macros, which is nothing out of the ordinary but gets the job done. On the front of the Cubot X90, there’s a 32MP selfie camera, which takes some amazing selfies with great details and natural colors. The details in the selfies look sharp even if you zoom in. As for video recording, the Cubot X90 can shoot at a maximum of 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie cameras.
Battery and Others
The Cubot X90 has a 5100mAh high-capacity battery, which delivers an excellent battery backup every day. Thanks to this huge battery, the smartphone can easily last for 2 days or even more, especially with lighter usage that includes cameras, social media, and so on. But with gaming, the battery will drain faster.
On top of that, the smartphone supports 33W wired fast charging and comes bundled in the box. This charger can fully charge the battery in about an hour and a half. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is available for purchase at $270 (Rs 22,590 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Cubot X90 comes with everything a decent mid-range smartphone should have. It has a more than decent display with accurate colors, a high refresh rate, and more. The same goes for the camera, which is great and has a great ultra-wide camera. The battery is also equally impressive and easily delivers 2 days’ worth of battery life.
The best part of the phone is its design and the curved display, which is stunning and very eye-catching. However, this is where the good things end. That’s because it has an average chipset and other phones in the same price range are giving way better chipsets. On top of that, there’s no 5G as well. While the other things in the phone are great, the chipset and lack of 5G are its biggest cons.
We would rather recommend the Vivo iQOO Z9 Turbo, which costs $30 more and offers a way better chipset, display, video recordings, battery, and charging capabilities. It’s a better smartphone in every regard. However, the final decision is up to you, so choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
